V-12 Homer

Post by bernholm » Wed Dec 28, 2011 10:09 am

The V-12 Home is the largest helicopter in the world (ever!), and I have recently become a fan of large helicopters (I obsessed over the CH/MH-53 and Mi-26).

The V-12, though, is quite the feat for an addon-maker.

First of all, it's huge. And I mean huge as in total propeller span being loarger than 747 wingspan.

Here are the general charachteristics.

Crew: 6 (pilot, copilot, flight engineer, electrician, navigator, radio operator)(Yes it's so big it needs 6 flight deck crew, making it look like the cockpit of a C-5 Galaxy)
Capacity:
VTOL 25,000 kg (55,000 lb) or
STOL 30,000 kg (66,000 lb) or
44,205.5 kg (88,636 lb) record

Length: 37.00 m (121 ft 4 in)
Rotor diameter: 2x 35.00 m (114 ft 10 in)
Height: 12.50 m (41 ft 0 in)
Loaded weight: 97,000 kg (213,850 lb)
Max takeoff weight: 105,000 kg (231,500 lb)
Powerplant: 4 × Soloviev D-25VF turboshaft, 4,048 kW (6,500 shp) each
Freight compartment: 28.15x4.40x4.40 m (92 4x14 5x14 5 ft)

Performance
Maximum speed: 260 km/h (140 kt)
Range: 500 km (310 miles)
Service ceiling: 3,500 m (11,500 ft)

Here are images:
http://isearch.babylon.com/?q=v-12+heli ... mages&as=1

You can make it a blank livery, my desired one would be too complicated

Thanks!

Thank you Gimiglider. Here is the V-12 Homer in the top 3 Helicopters (in size).

Image

Substantially bigger than any other chopper. Twice the payload of the Mi-26, the biggest helicopter in current operation. This thing is a monster.

I'll be suprised if I see a reply with an addon in JANUARY, this thing is so compllicated.

I don't want Homer Simpson involved in ANY of my aircraft.

But if YOU want the
GimiGlider wrote: homer flying a V-12 homer
be my guest.

Some more details:

I want the window-laden area on the tip of the nose-the lower one-to be an F-1(toggle-view)-able viewing deck. i.e. put a secondary camera there.

Cockpit (primary camera) will be thing with windows at the very front-top.

I would appriciate detail in most of the covering stuff(apart from the paint), like windows and door outlines, but if you can't, I'll repaint it myself.

Nope, bernholm. No AC-12 sniper (random made up NATO codename) for you.

It would be the AH-12... and anyways, I don't intend on AH-ing it. It's too big and clumsy. I will have it carry cargo for my films.

On another note, I want a cargo door a) like shown in the video I sent, and b) like the Wic Works Mi-26 cargo door, on the back of the V-12.

I doubt the V-12 will be in the project, as it is not of the setting time period. We'll use the Mi-26 instead.

I meant I will use it for my OWN stuff.

EDIT: I am currently in Manila so I cannot do a but of work with photoshop currently. If I have time when I get home, I might be able to do a Photoshop paint diagram, because making repaints seems like a pain for me. Once I am better at repainting I might do a couple of repaints for other purposes.

EDIT 2: For now I'll just use this paint, as it seems legit enough:
Image
Image
and then a mirror on the other side. :)

BTW if you can figure out the mirror of that, then you're a genius.

EDIT 3: I noticed that the number behind the propeller/wing is not very visible. It says CCCP-21146, as shown in this picture:
Image
Well actually in the big photo it says 21148 (or something like that), but it's fun to meld numbers :P
The number near the nose says АЭРОФЛОТ - it says that on all V-12s. It means AEROFLOT. (That actually came up in the suggestions list when I ran it through Google Translate - the first try, it said A3POФЛOT, which translates to A3POFLOT. Then I did further inspection of the Russian Alphabet wikipedia page.

I also looked carefully at the big photo and saw some cockpit controls in the LOWER front windows. So, where I said I want the UPPER windows to be cockpit, switch it around. TOP deck is f1-ing deck and LOWER windows is main cockpit. Also if you can make a cockpit view windshield silllouhette for the V-12, that would be great.

Apparently there's a 6-window cockpit.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... /Ми-12.JPG (IMG and URL don't seem to work for this, just copy-paste the url into the url bar. DON'T CLICK ON THE LINK, IT'LL GET YOU NOWHERE)

EDIT 4: You can probable get a good 5-bladed rotor from the Mi-24 Hind in GAC and Major packs.

EDIT 5: I looked at the V-12 factfile and decided that I wanted the in-game weight to be 75-80 tons. Also look at the power plant. I don't know how much power that makes, but I'm sure someone can figure it out. Left rotor spins anti-clockwise, right rotor spins clockwise. It can carry trucks, jeeps, and other road vehicles, though it doesn't need to do this in-game. I also wanted a cargo door camera, like in the Wic Works Mi-26, and a detailed cargo bay, also like Wic Works Mi-26.

Technically it should be the Mi-12, but if you want to make it a US vehicle, call it the CH-12.

He doesn't want me to add a gun and turn it into a cross between an AH-64, a V-22, and a An-22.

Technically it has no guns.

One bigga-huge helicopter is good but with guns...complete overkill.

Unless the enym has a single rpg.

No I am serious, The V-12 is too cumbersome to be an effective assault helicopter. It is meant to CARRY CARGO. And that's exactly what I'm using it for.

Explosive cargo called "bombs", "agms", "aams","aaams", and rockets. Am I right?

Bombs, yes. However, it would be reasonable, because it CAN fly over a target and roll bombs out the back, so it's realistic. In fact, the V-12 was designed solely for the purpose of deploying ballistic missiles.
