normals

Post by Boom » Tue Jan 31, 2012 10:28 pm

I cannot make a simple addon because of normals. I need a simple way to set a normal in geopolyo by selecting a polygon and setting the normals. also, for special uses, is there a way to give a polygon no shading?

Easy.

Select that polygon in gepoly/o

then press "N".

Done.

not really working....
It puts all the normals toward the positive side of the X axis, not at all what i want.

I use gepolyx for all my normals work.

You can have no normals, which makes it visible on both sides, but has poor lighting, or you can make 2 copies of the surface / polygons, one set with normals facing outwards, one set with normals facing inwards.

To clarify the reasons in my last post,

"n" is the shortcut for negate normal, ie: invert it.

If the normal isn't set, it's set to be backwards. Press it again, and it is inverted, making it go forwards.
