xD just watch the lag, a congested highway running through the thing would half the fps.

make most of the buildings elevation grids (like on hawaii pmnv) and possibly use elevation grids for some other nonmoving stuff.

Im going to re release the entire map, but I'm wondering if it would be better to create ground traffic in a .YFS file or through motion paths...

I'm also wondering how I can make a ground object so that I can fly through it and not die, because I want to create super-realistic clouds and use motion paths to fly them around in the air without people crashing into them and dying :D

It will probably be finished around March or April since I get loaded with a bunch of homework and only get on scenedit once or twice a week...

Use null.srf for the collision file in the .lst file. You'll have, for example, cloud.dat, cloud.srf, null.srf, instead of a second cloud.srf. The null.srf is basically a surf file with no polygons.

Thanks, but do you know how to insert a motion path for a ground object? I know how to get the motion path window up, but it always says <No Motion Path> or something.

Edit -> Insert -> Motion Path. Give it a name in the "Tag" box. Then move the cursor to each point. The last point should be in a location so a line drawn straight from the last point to the first point is also exactly where you want the ground object to move.

Observe the view screen.

Still in progress... I'm adding the island of Santa Catalina to the map, but only because it has an airport. The runway is elevated, and about 3,250 feet long. It will also feature the city of Avalon and lots of hills and trails.

I created a child scenery for Catalina Island Airport, but for some reason, after following all the steps in the help file, I load up YSF, and fly a C-152 out of the airport. I can fly out of the airport because of the rect. region, but none of the polygons depicting the runways, taxiways, numbers, and centerlines. Can someone help me?

Download the .fld and .stp below, and replace Patrick's original with them (temporarily). Thanks.

btw, is anyone willing to collaborate on this? all contributors will receive due credit, and so will modders whose work is displayed in this map.
