Your Local Airport

Post by Honey Badger »

Post up here. Let us know what your local airport is. If you don't want to give the name, then perhaps you can give a short description of it. Also, feel free to update the updates and events there. Who knows, someone else on here might be in the area and arrange a meeting with you. Be careful when doing such a thing, though. Anyone under 18 should probably have a parent with them when meeting with a "friend' from the internet. They may not be friends. Kids have been kidnapped and killed before because someone was pretending to be a 12 year old and convince a kid to meet them somewhere. If I'm babbling, it's because I don't want be held responsible. Any kid meeting someone should have permission from an adult not to mention an adult escort. Just sayin'.

My airport is a relatively small port with 4 bays for the terminal, a leasing area for private aircraft, an area for a charter airline and also a RFDS base.

To our airport we receive Qantas, Qantas Link, Air North, Regional Express, Alliance and Skytrans.

Those airlines use;
737-800's
Q400 Dash 8's
Embraer 170's
Fokker 100's
100/200 series Dash 8's

We occasionally also receive military aircraft - just this week we had a Tiger attack helicopter land over near our windsock. Unfortunately, with there only being an army barracks in town; if there isn't a VIP event, etc, then RAAF aircraft don't stick around.

If you can work out where my airport is, without prior knowing where I live, then kudos - I'm at little risk of any physical threat being an armed adult with connections.

My airport is the International Airport of Guarulhos International, the leading and largest airport in Brazil. I live 5 minutes then when I see the computer 737, a320, taking off.
The aircraft that pass through there are aircraft from small, medium and large. B737 to B747. Ressebe Lufthansa with its B747-500 and your a340. The Britishi which has its B747. The american airlines etc with your B767.
His accident was greater with a cargo aircraft, which near the airstrip lost stability and speed in the air falling on houses. :o

Toronto Buttonville Municipal Airport (CYKZ):

The large building on the top-left corner of the picture is my office.

If you use the map link and zoom in at the middle of the main apron (the large triangular one) you'll find a large yellow aircraft parked there. That is one of the only two An-2 Colt registered in Canada, C-FAKA, as seen here: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Antonov- ... 1910420/L/

For a couple of years in my university days (I went to Carleton) I used to live under the approach path to rwy 22 (the small GA runway), at the intersection of Uplands Dr. & Paul Anka Dr.

Van Nuys Airport, the busiest general aviation airport in the world. Planes landing pass right over my apartment every couple of minutes or so.

My local airport, Floyd Bennett Memorial(aka Warren County Airport), is about a 5 min drive down the hill from me and has already been made into a scenery by our very own Gunny. Speaking of which, now that YSP is down does anyone still have a copy of that?

Sky Harbor Intl. Airport.

What's even closer to me is Luke AFB, but that's an airbase.

My Local Airport is Abergavenny which is a grass strip which I regularly fly from with my friend and his dad when we go to France and other places in the UK. It

Where I personally fly from is (RAF) Colerne which houses Bristol University Air Squadron and 3 Air Experience Flight. The arrow shows the Hanger where our Grob Tutors are housed and the small apron in front is where all our turn around happens.

Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in eastern Jakarta is the closest airport to me . It serves both as an air force base and a regional airport for small airliners and general aviation planes . Its also the home of the Indonesian Air Force's C-130s , but Sukhoi's and F-16s and other military aircraft usually stop by here .

some pics of the airport :

Here's our local airport. HXD. Savannah isn't too much further away unless you happen to be driving there.
