[FIXED]EMB-120 Surface Inversion Bug

Post by acf492 »

Hello,

While landing in a WWA EMB-120, I experienced an incident where the aircraft suddenly became upside down upon touching down.

I have confirmed that this is a bug caused by the EMB120, as both the West Wind and FAVA EMB120 have the same problem:

It can be easily reproduced following these steps:

1. Set full flaps
2. Accelerate full thrust
3. Between 70kts and 100kts, apply back stick pressure.
4. Instead of pitching up, the aircraft suddenly becomes upside=down, and then experiences a crash.

I assume the error can only be in the DAT file. Please let post an update if a fix is found. If I figure it out, I will post an update here.

EDIT: Wow, I'm smarter then I thought.

Fixed it: The left and right landing gear both start with a negative number, meaning that they were both on the same side of the plane. The full-flaps setting made the problem show up more frequently, but I sort of knew it had to be the landing gear. Here is the fix:

LEFTGEAR -3.29m -2.35m -0.20m #LEFT LANDING GEAR POSITION
RIGHGEAR -3.29m -2.35m -0.20m #RIGHT LANDING GEAR POSITION
Must be changed to:
LEFTGEAR -3.29m -2.35m -0.20m #LEFT LANDING GEAR POSITION
RIGHGEAR 3.29m -2.35m -0.20m #RIGHT LANDING GEAR POSITION
I will get this updated in the West Wind pack, but as for the FAVA pack, I can provide the updated .DAT on my server, but I don't know if anyone will release an updated pack.

Yeah, I've had this before. If the right and left landing gears aren't right and left of each other your aircraft becomes a flying electric chair.

So after all these hours of flying in Ysflight, you can tell that I've only just started flaring out properly with this plane! I never experienced this with the EMB120 before, so my landings must have been slamming flat onto the runway...

This is another example of how you can progress from over-simplified flying to more correct, refined flying.
I'm back.
