I said GUI, not graphics, I mean the interface. It's simple, but it isn't too appealing.
That's because some of us that use YSFlightSim are simple;
and some of us are so awesome that we need the simplicity just to stay centered [but not grounded]

The ability to go full-screen.
It would make recording gameplay a lot easier with a lot less editing and cropping.

decaff I presume you mean your Mac because I run full screen on windows all the time.There's an option on the windows version to do just that.

I didn't see an option for that. What I meant was for YS to cover everything on the screen. No toolbars, only the part of the YSF window where you can see the plane, map, etc.
Sorta like watching your TV, there's nothing showing but the TV station.

Not to derail the thread,
Windows>Gaming>Macs
Macs>Video/Audio Editing and Creating>Windows
Windows>more Viruses>Macs
Macs>Less customizable...
The list of tradeoffs go on. both have their weaknesses and advantages.
Still, I wish that the Mac Version of YSF would match the capabilities of the WIndows version with every update.

I've always wanted to be able to do some flying, land, exit the program, then return to the game in the place I landed rather than back at the very beginning - or even to exit the game in mid-flight and return next day (or next week) to that same point in the air. Also to avoid reloading any aircraft or ground targets I've blown up, and to keep score of what targets I've destroyed over multiple games and sessions.
As it happens, I'm working on a program to do this. Just press a key - the game exits, saving the flight to Blackbox.yfs, close down FSMAINDX.exe - then the program scans Blackbox.yfs for the last position of aircraft and ground objects, whether they were destroyed or not... it's still in beta stage at the moment, but initial results look promising.
Anyone interested in this?

You can do this in default YS if you save your flight lol

Yes I would be interested in it.So as not to have to fly half the mission just to get where I left off.Better to click twice then to have to go by way of Omaha(The long way.)The game utility can not generate a Temp. start position so you have to start a the original start position and that wastes a lot of time and memory usage.

One idea that I have that builds on the current weapon skin designation.
Add a line in the dat file like "russia" that would look in the weapons folder for a folder called "russia and use the skins in there for the weapons for that plane. This would let people assign East/West/time period weaponry to the planes with a simple line, rather than specify each and every weapon. Russian planes would have russian armerment, and so on.
This frees up modders to make and assign custom skins for one or two particular weapons, and let the plane be properly armed with the 'proper' weaponry
If the line is absent, as to grandfather older dat files in, it defaults to whatever you have in the misc folder.
I think you get the general idea.

I mentioned this on YSP, and I still like it;
A "Swiss" IFF. Selecting this extra IFF keeps the player from firing weapons, if they have them, but also makes them indestructible to weapon damage.
Only way to be killed (or to kill) is by vehicle impact (must be on same IFF), ground impact, or selecting a different IFF.

Okay, so this might actually be doable. Make it so multiple flares are dispensed with a continuous hold of the trigger.
you could borrow components from the gun timing lines in the dat file to make the flares have a certain time interval. it would be a realistic feature that would be awesome to have.

Make the loading screen not look like some sort of command prompt. It is taxing on an Intel Atom like my netbook, which is on the verge of breaking down.
Also make engine selection like Flightgear so that there is individual engine control. Simulated engine failure anyone?
Edit: found same idea from Yuser10 on page 17.
Maybe some nukes would be nice too, instead of just the 250lb, 500lb and 500lb high-drag bombs.
Along with rain, maybe some turbulence and waves on the seas.
