Riddles

Post by Honey Badger »

This is a lot like the name that plane game. One person posts a riddle and then everyone has to give the answer first person to get it gets to post the next one. If no one gets it right after about 24 hours, then the person who posted the riddle can give the answer and post another. Please avoid well known riddles because they may be too easy or riddles with a local reference unless that reference is well known (IE, the Eiffel Tower). I'll start us off.

Two secret agents walk into a bar and both order lemonades with ice, it being a very hot day. The fat one drinks his slow while the skinny one drinks his quickly. The fat one later dies because both drinks were poisoned by the bar tender, an enemy agent. How is it that the skinny one lived but the fat one died?

Lol is it because the poison takes time to have effects? Cos when the fat agent drank it slowly he gave the poison time to take it's effect.

Oh this one is old...

The poison is in the ice. The skinny drinks it fast so the ice can't melt. The fat guy drinks it slowly, so the ice melts, therefore poisoning his drink.

But then the ice would melt in the skinny guy's stomach, thereby still releasing the poison. (Unless am I the only one who eats the ice in drinks?)

Either
a) the poison was arsenic, to which the skinny guy built up a tolerance earlier,
b) the poison was put in the glass as two parts, one of which contained fluorine, which bonded to the hydrogen in the skinny guy's stomach acid rather than the other part of the poison,
c) it wasn't really poison, but something that reacted with the large end of the fat triglyceride and releasing CO2 and H2 into the body, presumably in deadly volumes in the fat one,
d) the fat guy was deathly allergic to lemons

Actually, Philster got it. However, I'd liked all of Waspe's solutions....BTW Waspe, you do seem to be the only person I know that eats the ice....

A man works at the top of a 21 level building. Every day he goes to work, he takes the elevator to the 15th floor and uses the staircase to walk the rest of the way up. However, when it is raining, or when there is someone else inside the elevator with him, the man takes the elevator all the way up to the 21st floor. Why does he do this?

Heard this in class.
The guy is too short and thus can only reach the 15th floor button. Thus he has to walk the rest of the way up. However, when it is raining, he can use the umbrella to press the 21st floor button. Or ask some other guy to help him do it.

I was curious, and did some math:

Assuming fairly standard elevator design, the button panel will be in three columns of seven, at roughly fourty inches AGL.

If the rows count vertically up, with the bottom numbers of the panel being 1, 8, and 15, and if he stands on tiptoes and reaches as far as he can, the math works out to him being 31" high, and barely being able to lift his leg the required nine inches to clear a standard stair step.

If the buttons count horizontally, bottom numbers being 1, 2, and 3, and we assume the total size for the button and spacing is roughly two inches, he works out to 39" tall (which the internet claims is below average but still workable). This means him climbing the nine inch stair would be the equivalent of an average person climbing up an 18" step. Doable, but probably not for six floors.

Though you'd think after the first week he'd start bringing an umbrella regardless of the weather.

I'm doing a math riddle next time because of how much thought you are putting into these answers...

Anyways, I think NightRaven takes this one, as he actually explained it. However, Uddin basically stated the answer, even though it was supposed to be a hint.

Or stilts.

On a related note, the internet has a surprising lack of any pictures of midgets on stilts. I checked. Comedic potential is just being wasted every second.

Whoops currently in the middle of Malaysia without much internet access.

How about this:
What's black when you buy it, red
when you use it, and white when
you're done with it?

P.S. This is terribly unoriginal.
