Singapore-Malaysia map

Post by NightRaven »

I would like to make a request for a Singapore-Malaysia map. As far as I know, there aren't many SE Asian maps.

I've measured the size with Google Maps, and it is roughly the size of Hawaii. There is quite a bit of international airports and military bases in the area (bound to be near 20) so technically it should be as low lag as the Hawaii map.

Any modders who is interested in making this map shall receive my thanks.

From where to where? Specifically?
How far outside of Singapore are you asking about,
North, South, East and West?
If you are referring to the entire peninsula we call Malaysia?
That would be a huge undertaking along with the islands nearby.

Sorry about that. What I meant was mainland Malaya and Singapore down to the south. There is no need for the southern islands, other than Sentosa and Jurong Island.

Roughly about this, excluding that bit of Indonesia.

Wow I'm looking forward for someone to make this , I second this request . Don't try and extend it to an Indonesian map though or you're gonna have a hard time , trust me I tried.

Well of course. Indonesia is comprised of 18000 islands, so anyone who actually makes one would be a person who is talented (in a sense) and has tons of time. Just so you know.

I hate to be the bearer of sad news guys. But the pool of active scenery makers is woefully short as in almost nonexistent. So you may want to dig into decaffs scenery editor tutorials and get started. That may be the only way it gets made. :(

U could always ask Dan or Dave, i'm pretty sure they wouldn't say no. i also think it'd be better if sabah and sarawak are exluded from the map coz there arecloads of airports there which are really un-neccesary...Also make sure the Map maker includes Langkawi intl airport, a small island of the north-west coast, it holds 1 of the worlds main airshows.
Oh and Malaysia is much bigger than Hawaii, its nearly 550 miles from top to bottom, whereas hawaii is maximum 350miles from the east to west

Thanks UDDIN. I may ask them soon. I'm stuck in school training my juniors.

But the length difference isn't that substantial. This is the Hawaii map.
Image
And this is the Malaya map.
Image
It's only difference of 100 kilometers. I don't think it will cause extra lag though.
I don't want to start an argument, so please stop saying that I have calculated wrongly.

I'm pretty sure that it would function well.
I've seen one map, made by the same person that did the Grand Canyon map, that was called an experimental or test map, that is larger than the one requested and it works just fine. I'm not at my computer so I don't have it in front of me. I think Gunny may be able to recall it though.

Those two maps where made by Moro. The test map is referred to as the Moro map but its real designation is 060303 for the files and the canyon map is actually called fishbed6.He used to be a member of the Ys Japanese community but I am not sure of his current status since the tsunami disaster.

Hmm I don't really want to have an awkward strip of land. It may also make it extra laggy. :?

a bit progress on Peninsula of Malaysia+Singapore
as you noticed on Discord or Tigershark's FB group YSFlight Addons,I'm currently back on the scenery
and I also shrunk the scenery size to 1.8km X 1.8km per rectangle polygon,so that means redesigned terrains
(you couldn't shrunk that one apparently)
Image
it means the ground objects department are currently halted, and need help on Singaporean buildings that need to be make too since the Changi terminal and the tower is the only one I had so far, maybe general buildings
(no so much but major but the well known),hangars and possibly aircraft shelters (if that's keep in secret,I'll understand)

How are you getting the heights on the grid? Are you just eyeballing it or do you have a system setup to get precise peaks

yeah,I'm set the terrains according the Relief image and organized to 200m,500m,800m,1000m,1200m,and soon up to 2100m the highest peak in the peninsula region
and the shaded one is not yet plotted (if you guys wondering about it)
