You miss a bird?
Do you feel the lack of a bird in your country? Any picture, favorite color scheme?

The Hibiscus 747-4H6 9M-MPB
And Freedom of the Skies 777-2H6/ER 9M-MRD
Both in their (former) glory. Malaysia Boleh!
Their paintschemes are as extravagant as they are beautiful.

Citilink Indonesia 737-300 PK-GHS

Now replaced with this :
Citilink Airbus A320 PK-GLX (D-AXAC before delivery).

One more aircraft and livery that I really missed was this :
Garuda Indonesia DC-10 PK-GIC 1980s Hockeystick livery
[previmg]http://www.abpic.co.uk/images/images/1014067F.jpg[/previmg]
I really don't know why , but I really like the old 1980s Garuda Hockeystick livery.
The good thing is Garuda decided to pay tribute to the old 1980s Garuda by putting the old 1960s and 1980s livery on some new 737-800NGs

I miss this...
Reason: Resized image. We don't all have 5000x3000 screen resolutions.

Re: You miss a bird?
If the financial crisis didn't happen , I would probably be seeing this aircraft everywhere around Indonesia being used for short regional routes.

Another aircraft I miss was the Tu-16 Badger. The Indonesian Air Force had around 26 of this aircraft along with the Indonesian Navy in the 1960s. These aircraft was also used in Operation Trikora to take back West Papua from the Netherlands in 1961 and the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation in 1963.

However, one crashed at Taiwan and the other one had its "Tropical" livery removed soon afterward.
Now, Singapore Airlines has retired its 747s and uses them only for cargo transport.

Oh yes, I remember seeing them in illustrations in books when I was a kid. Rumors around the web stated they were phased out for more friendly and cute beings called birds! I say bullocks!Eric wrote:I haven't seen one of these in over 60 million years. Quite a shame they were phased out quite suddenly. Not sure what country they're from though:

I'll mention an aircraft I'd recently took attention to, the De Havilland Hornet:
Reasons:
-They're OP (can fly and fight fine with 1 prop feathered)
-They are bloody fast and can rival any single engined fighter of its time
-Basically a Mossie on steroids
-Earned recognition by THE Eric "Winkle" Brown
-Saw action in the Malayan Emergency and performed strikes on Communist camps in the jungles with rockets
-It's like the Mustang and Spitfire, " if it looks right, it is right"
It's not so much that I miss seeing it flying, but I'd like to see one in flying condition. It's comparable to the Hawker Tempest and F8F Bearcat, both of which did survive to flying condition at airshows. Shame that the same couldn't be said about this wonderful machine.

Re: You miss a bird?
With a total of 135 flights, a total flight time of 1289 days, 36 minutes and 29 seconds and a top speed of 17,500mph it's got to be the Space shuttle.
135 8.5 minute launches to Earth orbit have brought a total of 836 of its crew to space and the International Space Station.
A total of 135 flights out of an expected 500 launches shows that the space shuttle program was cancelled way to early. The only countries now capable of putting people into space are Russia and China. Although commercial companies such as 'Space X' are aspiring to to the same, it will never be as 'cool' as the Space shuttle.

Still lots of those flying with the Chinese air force and naval aviation. I saw some back in 2010 near Wuxi. Technically those are H-6, but still the same basic airframe.Gennaro wrote:Another aircraft I miss was the Tu-16 Badger.
