Import SVG into blender?

Post by CalvT » Wed Mar 12, 2014 4:32 pm

I've got a svg of a logo which I'd like to import into blender, to be able to shrink wrap onto an aircraft. I've tried the import paths option, but no go. Can anyone tell me how to do it? I've been trying to convert it to srf, but no luck....
I've also got it in eps, pdf, png & bmp if needed..

I don't know of any automated way of doing something like that applicable for YSF. You will have to make the logo manually using the png as a background image and then export the file as an SRF.

import -> path -> inkscape(?) .svg

The path is often quite large, so zoom out and you will see it.

It would be better to use the latest version of blender (2.69, maybe) than to use Blender 2.4x, because the newer version of blender has improved scripts for importing SVG files.

1. Launch Blender 2.6
2. File -> Import -> SVG
3. Alt+C -> Convert to mesh
4. Save as .blender file
make sure that you select "Legacy mesh format" so that you can open the file in older version of Blender
5. Quit Blender 2.6 and launch Blender 2.4
6. Open the file you saved
7. Done!

Hell I had a very similar work around I did but your method is much faster.
