A video montage of some sharp angle (and strong wind) crosswind landings at Birmingham International Airport (BHX) in England. This is where all the hours in the (real) simulator pay off (and kudos to the videographer for bringing us these):

I'm sure many of you have seen this; for those who haven't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbPx6rQO3qg
Title: Building the Best and Possibly Last Manned Fighter Jet for the U.S. Military
I found it an interesting documentary on the JSF competition between the two latest x-planes. Though lengthy, to me, it was worth it. Until now, I never noticed the X-32 was capable of VTOL.

Not sure, but is that runway really that bendy? Must not be fun to takeoff from O.o

So is it also that short? No, the point of view creates an illusion that the runway is build on an highly unleveled surface. Though it is not completely flat, it is not as hilly as it seems.

You would be amazed at the elevation changes in the theoretically flat runways around the world some can be as much as a three foot drop or rise in a distance of as much in vertical travel and that is a design function not a flaw. And after a number of years of ground movement even that can increase or decrease.I have experimented with these elevation changes with the scenery editor using elevation grids to simulate elevated sections and laying over runway regions to fit individual changes and it looks cool from the pilots view unfortunately the collision file for the aircraft dos not like it and crashes at the first elevation change on the runway.

Sure. Must be the big length of the runway that's tricking you into thinking it's so hilly.

Here's an interesting photo of Japanese aircraft in the not so well remembered WW2 history in Malaya.
After the Japanese surrender in 1945, the Brits quickly too advantage of the captured enemy planes and flew them for evaluation purposes.

And Zero's got a fair share of it too

The pilots in all of these photos were Japanese, under close supervision of British personnel. Pretty unusual to see Japanese aircraft with RAF roundels. Makes me realize how little things like changing the roundels creates an almost different impression to the aircraft itself.

I was surprised to have found this. The air war over Malaya during WW2 to me has been obscure, at best. But cool, nonetheless.

^Both Gunny and Stingx are correct on the runway undulation perspective. I used to think all runways are perfectly flat as well, until I landed at Hartsfield-Jackson International airport in Atlanta the first time. Never have I seen such a drop in runway elevation elsewhere. ATL still has the highest runway elevation changes of all the airports I've been to, although there are some extreme cases elsewhere - Courchevel in France being an example, as is Lukla Airport in Nepal. Others exist I'm sure.

Anyway, switching back to the topic, can you spot the former Air Tran 737-700 in this photo? Makes for an interesting change in the otherwise uniform TK lineup.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for my signature, I can tell you I don't have one. But what I do have are a very particular lack of skills, skills I have imagined having over a very long career. Skills that make me are completely useless in any situation. If you stop reading now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't stop reading, I will look for you, I will probably not find you, and I will kill your refrigerator.

Shameless plug; I made a music video and it's been quite well received so far on Reddit - thought I'd post it here as well:

^Yep. This certainly qualifies as one of the best music vids about aviation in general. The complimented the shot perfectly, nice and subtle editing, and breathtaking footage of aircraft showing off their stuff.

It's just....breathtaking...

This one has it all - a "majestic" appearance by an Emirates 77W, epic wake vortex condensation (and thus an excellent depiction of wake vortices), followed by full reverse thrust to slow the behemoth down on the wet runway giving an awesome spray.
