Half way through Majkop Air Base at the moment. So far I have enough roads, enough space for the map itself, and a decently scaled air base. Planning to release it in a week. :)

Nice work, DT.

I think the crowd line is far enough away there's no need for an artificial show line. Appears to be a bit too far away. I think the runway here would work just fine.

I'm going to release the FW 200 pack tomorrow.

So now it's time for a new project. Anybody want to guess where this might be? There is a lot missing, since I only have three groups of islands and a lot more will be in there around them.

This is the map I was going to make to go with USA48 but lost interest in YSF before getting started.

As for destinations, I must have seen at least a dozen air fields on various islands so far, and I'm only half-way through the islands. This may take a while.

I also have to do a little work to finish up GIZMOs' paint of CHF's 777 for NatComAir.

-- Mon Jun 23, 2014 10:10 pm --

Here's another update. One or two more islands and I'll be ready to start looking at the air fields. These islands have taken far more time than I liked. I figure I've put in about 18 hours since Saturday. I think it's time to let it rest for a few days.

Would anyone be interested in a server where the land is divided into cells, and you can claim and edit your own cells?

I'm making a map that has 100 total 100km^2 cells to control - The idea being is that you can create your own aerobatics fields, VA's can make fictional airports.

Total distance across would be about 1000km, which is pretty large and I think most people will be happy with this.

Here's a sneak peak so far:

Image

You edit each cell as it's own file - so it is easy for each cell owner to edit their own cells only and not that of others or risk compromising the entire project.
I will code a simple co-ordinate checking program to ensure that people can't build into other peoples spaces as well. (easy as rejecting anything that's <0 or > 100,000).

If I have enough support I will go through with this.

Whaaaaaaat!?!?

But that lag though? And that shaking?

Well I will definitely support a project like this. But I assume that there will be guidelines as to how to create/edit each cell?

It's easy - you just find the cell you need like a map cell, then you open it in scenery editor and edit it.

I'll post up a thread.

As for the lag/shaking - shouldn't happen over a distance that small - 1000km is quite small. Shorter then the distance from Chicago to New York!

Ambergris Cay International Airport hasn't been updated in a few years on Google Earth, so I pieced it together from photos and old sat photos. The runway is on a man-made extension of the island, so I used a 1m elevation grid with another elevation grid as a ramp going down to the apron area.

The real airport. This site doesn't allow direct linking.

I've already seen those repaints somewhere, especially the "Me quemo!" one. Some Japanese pack.
