Question About Online Activity

Post by USCG Helo 1 » Sat Jun 28, 2014 1:51 am

Hey everyone, long time no see, eh?

Anyways, I've been looking into getting back in the air lately, but I know from prior experience that the YS servers weren't really active unless there was a major event or something. So, I was wondering if there's anyone that could tell me if this is still true or not, and whether or not I should go through the trouble of reinstalling YS.

Also, since the 241st is well and truly dead, I'm debating applying to join another squad, if there are any that are still active. However, that would depend on the answer I receive to the above question.

I've been away for awhile, but hopefully you'll see more of me in the near future.

42 south, ww3, cvw, and hava are always up. 42 south being the busiest mostly on afternoons eastern time.

Can't comment much on military squads...

171st is pretty active right now, and it seems like the 49th is coming back. FDF is a new unit which also seems to be pretty active. I expect that the 323rd is still around, not sure about their current activity.

The 323rd is having a break at the moment as the squad members are having exams.

The 49th, 171st and FDF (Fur Does Fly) squads, like what Bomb said, are active and recruiting. The 49th is planning something big, not gonna say what.

@CP - What, don't I get any credit for bombing the daylights outta all them SAM and AAA too? XD

@USCG Helo 1 - Yeah I'd say there are quite a lot of active flyers and servers out there, it'd be nice to have you in the bunch too, the more, the merrier!

TS is super busy most morning/middays my time.. Often 8-12 people online,

Servers move around in popularity. 42South is generally considered the 'main' general YS server (we're getting 600+ flight hours a month which is good) but CP's has been gaining popularity the past week. VAS is the main civilian server and online during Australian PM time (GMT+10) and I don't usually see people on the 171st or HAVA but they are alternative options.

HQ also runs the WW3 server now. It's not quite the same as the original, but as close as we're going to get. It has it's ups and downs in activity as well.

Thanks for all the input everyone, I really appreciate it. It seems my fears have been dashed.

I just reinstalled the main YS program (I forgot how much of a pain the joystick assignments were), so as soon as I get my bearings back and reinstall the metric crap-ton of mods I used to have, I'll be online and flying.

Probably won't be on TS for some time though, as I have to get a new headset (stood on the cord on my old one and pulled the earpiece and mic clean off).

As for squads, it's nice to see some friendly faces still around. Gonna have to do a bit of research before I make up my mind, but I'm looking forward to getting back in the saddle.
