Weekly Combat Event

Post by Midnight Rambler » Fri Jul 04, 2014 10:01 am

Weekly Combat Event (WCE)

Hosted by the 42South Server

Aim:

The WCE will be a weekly event run by the 42South server to provide some structured combat into the YSFHQ calendar. The idea is to have two teams battle in the air to take out the enemy installations on the custom built map. The two teams, IFF1 and IFF2, will fight until all ground objects are destroyed on either island at which point the match comes to a close, objects are revived and teams may be swapped. Fighting will continue until the 3 hour time limit is reached at which point the server will close. Winners of the competition will be the team that destroyed the enemy base in the least amount of time - all matches will be added to the hall of fame where a win/lose ratio (match, not kill) will be developed for each player.

Details:

Time- Starting at 2030hr GMT on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for a period of 3 hours.
YSFlight Server - 42south.ysfservers.com
Teamspeak Server - ts.ysfhq.com

Rules:

  • Once assigned an IFF, you must stay with that IFF until either the umpire "[OFFICIAL]" states you must change or that the current game is over.
  • The user with the [OFFICIAL] tag may join in the game, but only a recognised umpire may use the [OFFICIAL] tag.
  • Vulching is allowed.
  • You must only takeoff from your listed IFF base (1 or 2).
  • Only IFF1 and IFF2 may be used in this competition.
  • YSFHQ 3 flare rule does not apply and can be ignored.
  • Teamspeak is encouraged
  • Raptoring is not allowed
Failure to abide by these rules may result in being kicked from the server, or excluded from future events.
Teams:

Teams can be pre-arranged or made up on the day. Choice is up to the pilots flying. Anyone with the correct aircraft and map is eligible to join, simply turn up on the day or post your team as a reply to this topic. In the advent of fairness, team balancing will apply and the match umpire will balance the teams based on who entered the server last.

Server Details:

This sounds like a lot of fun.

TeamSpeak is okay, yes?

I am a weekend worker, but Sat/Sun (GMT) should be fine for me as I'm off Sun/Mon mornings usually.
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

Hope you have a decent turnout, being the 4th here in the states and it being in the evening, most people are out for festivities. I would attend if I could!

Well it was a bit of a flop. But I'm putting it down to lack of getting word around... And the holiday.

Will be on again tomorrow. People that turned up today will get a point.

Server up for practice, starts in 30 minutes.

-- Sun Jul 06, 2014 12:42 pm --

Today was fun, updated the results in the Hall of Fame.

Would be good to see more get into it!

-- Sun Jul 06, 2014 9:30 pm --

Map issue has largely been fixed - see map topic for details.

Will be hosted again tomorrow (tomorrow for me, might not be for you, check timezones!), its a lot of fun and an excellent way to get into combat.... Hint Hint...

-- Mon Jul 07, 2014 12:14 pm --

Today was fun... Very fun.

There were roughly 8 people flying overall - 4 a team so it was quite interesting. TS was also being used for general banter which was great and got more people into it.

Next week we'll begin at 2030hr GMT to see if we can attract some of our British fellows. We'll also consider some other game modes for round 2 such as CTF, asset protection or VIP/escort... Post your suggestions/ideas/criticism/complaints/hate mail.

Get on board as well, it was a lot of fun!

-- Fri Jul 11, 2014 10:24 pm --

A reminder that we will be starting 2 hours earlier this week as a test run.

-- Sat Jul 12, 2014 10:01 am --

The event tomorrow will be run in night-mode.

The first round's correct. For the second round, the teams and scores are correct, but you are right, the IFF's were reversed, so Mid, Bronco, and I were IFF2.

Are we still doing this?
Maybe we could continue it but once a month?
Just a thought.

Yeah this was fun for a bit. I think I messed up with waking up early enough to make it work... Also it was always the same people. Once a month could work.
