Request: Updated A-10C Instrument Panel

Post by Kujo » Tue Jul 22, 2014 4:29 pm

This is my first request for something ever, so if I sound a bit demanding please forgive me :)

I'm looking for a 3 dimensional .ist file along with an updated looking cockpit instrument panel and cockpit that could be easily installed on Oranleed's original A-10A (not outside, just the inside itself ;) )

Here's what the A-10C's instrument panel looks like:

Image

Image

On the left and right sides and including between the pilot's leggings are switches that relate to other miscellaneous things such as fuel dump and what not. On top of the instrument panel and in front pilot where those black and yellow lines of doom lye are emergency systems. Below the small HUD screen are switches that I'm not really sure about what they do. :P In the mod I would also like the pilot dnm to be removed from the cockpit as well.

It doesn't have to be REALLY detailed, but something similar to what the photos look like. If anybody could pull this off I would be REALLY happy

Thanks for your help guys :)

Just FYI (and correct me If I'm wrong here guys)
From what I understand, the .ist file is 2-D. I don't believe I have seen a 3-D one.

Yep you are correct decaff it is a 2d image. But when you add the .ist file it will superimpose the .ist file over the existing panel giving the impression of 3d.

That's the words I was going after. Yeah, I just see these .ist files and some of the meters are set in different places and different angels just to make it look 3d-ish. I'm don't know how to do any of this since I'm not a modder :P

The .ist as a whole can be given an angle, but unfortunately all the instruments are on one plane.

I'll give the .ist a shot. I've got DCS A-10C, so am pretty familiar with the front panel. Is there a working cockpit file or .dnm I can reference for sizing?

Somewhat related, would anyone be interested in a slightly more accurate A-10 dat?

Major's A-10s have a nicer cockpit than Oranleed, though they are the A-10A rather than C. Also much more detailed externals.

Major's A-10s are A10As. I'm seeing if someone could pull off a good quality A-10C cockpit panel with ist. There aren't any real A-10Cs around YS. They're just regular A-10As with a name change. :(

What are some of the major differences? I don't really know the A-10 that well, but I don't think I've seen a/c with obvious differences externally. Is it all on the inside?

As far as I know, the only real difference is the cockpit. All flight systems are the same, the C may have a few more antennae, but the big change is in cockpit layout and interface.

I for one, support this request. It's little things like this that just adds to the immersion of the whole flying experience.

I would very much like to see this since both ACC A-10 demo teams fly A-10C's and there's hardly any A-10A's flying around anyways anymore. It would be certainly nice to upgrade the A-10 East jet to a C model :)

As the credits show my A-10 mod is from Oranleeds amazing base model, and I just added a moving canopy to the cockpit area.

It's really easy to make an updated cockpit, so good luck to the person who takes this on!
Are there any other modifications that need to take place on a C-model (eg antennae, sensors, MORE pylons :p )?
Im not too interested in cockpits, but if more challenging mods need to be made perhaps I could give it a try.

I might take a shot at the physical panel. I did some tests with DNM animation for cockpit internals, and think it would be pretty neat to have some cockpit animation. Needs to be part of the aircraft then, unfortunately.
