Surface Texture (YF-23.net)

Post by Stingx »

So I found a picture lying around yf-23.net (reference in pic) and was wondering if anyone knew of this ground texture. I'm unsure of its timestamp, but the ys edition looks to be around 3-6 yrs old. TIA

I used a texture similar to that, stole it from CFS1.

Why doesn't the runway have the texture?

Is that one of those ground object runways?

Seems like a crazy idea but maybe change the stock texture to a grassy one and make a groundobject airport with an asphalt texture for some extra realism?

Should be easy right? Get a autocad model of an airport (with permission) and import it into blender, fix it up, delete unnecessary details and export as dnm?

Well its extraordinarily simple to change your ground texture to anything, but I'm unsure how you would add texture to a DNM runway without panting each individual pixel onto it with blender.

Each face, not pixel. By using the group selection tool.

That'd make a whole heap of faces to make a realistic texture... I can't imagine it working. Ground objects can't use textures, right?

Well isn't a ground object a plane without flight characteristics?

Well from what I've learned so far in blender is that the fewer the faces the better. And a long rectangle would only use two faces right?

Of course I'm no expert in modding so I'll just sit and wait for pat, decaff, or gunny to show up and say I'm wrong and comment on the idea.

.dnms cannot be textured. In order to simulate it you would need to make a polygon for each pixel in the texture.

Which would take thousands of faces for even a basic, textured look.
