First snowfall of the 2014 winter.

Currently 54F with fog, visibility 1 3/4 miles, with a dense fog advisory in place until 9 tomorrow morning. At least the temperature's going to remain well above freezing. And rain's moving in tonight so that should curtail the fog quite a bit.

"Interesting" weather today (for December anyway). The high temperature reached 63F with dewpoints in the high 50s. With the jetstream directly on top of us and a system that approached from the west, it was a high-shear, low CAPE environment. If any storms got discrete enough, they would start getting mesocyclones and that's pretty much what happend in SW OK, where storms developed on the dryline and a brief tornado touchdown was reported. Other than that it's been feeling pretty much like a very early Spring day instead of late Fall. Very humid no doubt. Clouds have also been racing from the SW-NE all day long.

Oddly enough, it's raining. However, it sounds like there'll be some snow tonight into tomorrow for my neck of the woods.

The cold air that has overspread basically anywhere except the far eastern part of the country will now join forces with a storm system coming our way from the desert southwest (the same system responsible for snow in Las Vegas). For us however, it will be more of a freezing rain and sleet event, with more freezing rain than sleet. Temperatures will hopefully rise above freezing on Friday however, so any precip that lingers should change over to normal rain *fingers crossed* Let's hope the models aren't way off on this one.

Its been a real warm winter here in the N.E. But this week we're expecting freezing temps and hopefully some snow later on this week.

Here at my place my hands while im typing this are freezing. For a mediterranean place this is unbearble -6 is COLD MAN!

Light flurries for most of the morning and afternoon. 14°F and to make things fun I spent about 30 minutes outside changing the driver's side headlight on my car. My fingers have never been so cold. To make matters worse I put it in slightly angled and locked that in. I had to spend 80% of the 30 minutes figuring out how to extract the bulb with out breaking it so I could get it back in properly.

As has been quite typical of the past several winters we've been in/out of mild temps. 70s (and even some 80s in SW OK). The first part of January was below normal temp-wise, the latter part was above normal. That trend has continued into February, more or less, and so today will be 64F with 70F tomorrow. Then the bottom drops out and we get snow on Tuesday. And then it warms back up to seasonal averages by next weekend.
