^Yeah, I am definitely not against the idea nor am I saying that YSFan's VA is not stable. No judgements here. I welcome the idea of a virtual alliance, but in my honest and humble opinion I would say it would be better to apply some standards like I suggested above for any VA that wants to join the alliance.

I feel that the Va's haven't even been asked about this and in that way you (YSFan) need to speak to CEOs in private about the subject before trying to tell them what's happening.

YSFan asked me about the idea. I'm not so much opposed to it as I am unsure about what it will involve over time.

Just my 2 cent here but.How is this going to help to advance the site for virtual commercial aviation YSfan? I am not condemning your idea I just want to know what your thought are on this. And is every one of the airlines owners you mentioned on board with this idea?

And I thought leaving the Vern poll open for a few days was relatively short.

I don't know about an alliance, but a more unified system of flight operations for the entire HQ civilian wing would be nice. I'm thinking something like a flight logging form that any civilian pilot can submit and will be publicly posted, similar to what I use with NCA.

More for the older HQ VA's but anyone can chime in: Did the VA system HQ ran when I was running civilian HQ work? I seem to remember there were a heap of VA's around at that time and people seemed happy until Iceman tried to start a VA war but that's another story.

To be honest MR at this point anything would be preferable to what we have now as in nothing except for Pats airline. But for anything to work people have to use it on a regular basis not just sporadically as the mood hits them.

Well, we have NCA/'Ohana, the Penguins, Fast Airways, and Abel Jets. All four are active, or at least I see all four operating on my server with some regularity.

I really think the civilian area should include a lot more than airlines. I really want to get the GA folks involved, as well.

Trouble is I think I may be the only dedicated GA guy here.Unfortunately.And we need more GA aircraft for the servers.Military and commercial are vary well represented if not dare I say glutted. But vary few GA aircraft that have not been militarized in some fashion and most of them are GAC quality.
Although Pat and Dan's contributions to GA has not gone unappreciated. So Dan how about an upgrade on those Socata's you made.

So I was wondering if you could relay what this alliance actually does?

What is the purpose?
What do VAs get out of it?
Is there central flight logging?
Am I disadvantaged by not joining?
Do you create rules/Guidelines for VAs or just manage (?) them?

The purpose is to allow VAs to draw from a larger pool of pilots than usual. VAs can have more active pilots and hence will have more activity from their pilot pool. There is no central logging and VAs keep their own systems but one hour/flight in one is equal to one hour/flight in another, allowing VA pilots to log hours for any member of the alliance his/her airline is in. You are not disadvantaged by not joining and we just manage them.

Ok so it's sort of a union for pilots? Where you create a pool of members and these members are able to fly for different VAs of the alliance. So instead of VAs being closed, a flight is based off the pilot rather than the VA and can be transferred to any VA they like?

Kind of. But this is more closed off to the members of a VA and to join the "union", you have to join a VA which is a member of the desired alliance.

That's not a half a bad idea. What are the perks to VA's and Pilots joining the Union? Is there a purpose or is it a pretty wrapper?
