WEST VIRGINIA WINTER 01-10-16

Post by Gunny » Tue Dec 29, 2015 8:55 pm

I was not going to upload this until the 1st.But there's no time like the present to get things rolling on a reboot.
I will be developing more in this map as time goes on like adding taxi lines, refining some nav aids and adding more airports mostly municiple and local.
Lots of snow to fly in.
Read the readme file for it .

One of the best 4FPS maps I've ever seen ;) Is there a way you can reupload Stykk's Northern Utah Map? The minus link is dead

I'm guessing that I don't need to waste time by running this on my server?

@megaprime13 That may take some time since it is my intention to have all airports in WV included if it dosen't crash my computer in the process ;)
@ Pat good luck with that my friend.

@ Pat if you throw it up on OYS it shouldn't be too different. Code wise it's only the amount of ground objects that would add any lag, and even then, it's like only loading lag.

Haha to be honest it sort of doesn't even do anything with the maps. I don't need to know what color the grass is, where the mountains are etc. like YSF does, so I don't need to load any of the map info or do any calculations on the map. Which is great, as that means I only load the ground objects and paths from it, and the start positions and that's it.

How did you make the "snow" in the air? Is that a ground object?

I'm not sure. Lights don't usually show up in day time, plus lights would have the star effect in OGL2, but these don't.

They're very impressive at night!

I guess I could load it in scenery editor and look under the hood to see what they are. ;)

EDIT: They are some kind of map element.

Actually I did not create the snow effect that was borrowed from a KZS map.It is a scenery of lesser scenerys from Pc2's.If you look at it in the scenery editor you will understand its construction.Unfortunatly it is static until the aircraft starts moving. And as for r/w lights I normally have the lights set for on in daylight. My CNY based on Pats Syracues map scenery has star light also borrowed from a KZS pack. The same basic construction as his snow. But you have to set it vary high in elevation otherwise you end up with stars on the ground.
