K2W That is amazing! How did you get it to be so photo realistic? (At least for YS)

Nice work. Can't wait for the release. Please make it a zip file, as I can't download from mediafile, for some reason.

Also, any chance you can put in the location (Brienz), where they do the live fire 'airshow' please.
Fliped out of the arena, again! :(

yeah, that makes YS now have 4(Kai Tak,Gibraltar,Courchevel and St.Maarten) extreme airports but the Gibraltar Airport now has been deleted so 3...
and unfortunately,Nat Geo's World's Most Extreme didn't put it in their list....

Can't compare with the likes of what we have seen recently, but pleased to say I have completed about 95% of Ocaso and Ocaso del Norte. Some teasers:

Image
View from a resort hotel looking SW at the main island; downtown Ocaso and The Peaks visible.

Image
Aerial view of Ocaso looking SW. The small island on the left of the shot is what I have named "El Rincon", which is Spanish for "The Nook." Ocaso's rich and famous have made a nice home there for themselves :P Plus, it has a nice waterfront, cafes and shops/restaurants. And a dock for boats. Also seen here is Ocaso's port, which is nicknamed "Horseshoe Harbour" for its shape.

Image
Another view, looking due W.

Image
A view of the OCA ramp (start position testing in progress).

As far as CMI as a whole is concerned, I still have to work on the following:
- Air start positions around Ocaso
- City lights/hazard lights for tallest downtown buildings in Ocaso
- A new 20-story headquarters for Abel Jets (will be an elevation grid simple structure)
- New GA facility at LNB, plus a new satellite concourse (about a day's worth of work). I have already added a "stinger" concourse to the NE end of the main terminal for narrowbody aircraft only
- Minor additions here and there to Turbot and Winnsworth islands

Oh yeah, by the way, there is a code change for Mandiola International Airport. It is now designated as "MXA" instead of "MLA". The reason will be revealed in a few weeks. Stay tuned!

Granted, I have a pretty powerful computer built for gaming purposes (read: DiRT 3) but some maps/aircraft in YS will drag my frame rate down quite a bit even then. I'm getting a full 64 FPS during testing around Ocaso, so I imagine most should get at least a bare 30-40 FPS.

i dunno TFan. i have the map "HIMARAYA". and it chokes my frame rate to 1 or 2 fps. and K2W's map looks like it could do the same thing.

I'm looking forward to flying around that map, Tfan!

Here is a screenshot of my update to KPNS. The name itself is an update, since it changed from "Regional" to "International" since I originally made the airport. I created two new runways with markings to match the real things, added more accurate markings for the helipad area, created a parking lot, and added jetways to the terminal. I also removed the ground object aircraft that were parked around the airport.

why would you do that? i find a few planes scatterd about the airport adds to the enjoyment of the simulation. they bring some measure of life to an airport and to the map in general.
infact, i've been waiting for someone to release a map with air traffic like Soji did with some of the stock maps.

I've tried adding air traffic and never been able to come close to getting it to work correctly.

Aircraft ground objects may look nice, but they are hard on frame rates.

With all due respect to Soji, that's why I fly all aircraft myself. Much more accurate also and you control all aircraft yourself. AI is one area that can and will be improved but until it's good enough, there's the replay option :).

I have actually had some success with figuring out the basics of AI traffic. I can make an aircraft fly VOR-to-VOR, and to provided air fixes, all at specified altitudes. I have not yet been able to get an NPC aircraft to taxi to and take off on a runway. Looking at stock maps, I don't even think it is possible for an AI plane to land yet.

If anyone knows of a map where the aircraft land, please let me know.
