Quan Vo's work

Post by Richard Vo » Sat Apr 02, 2016 6:20 pm

As my rank on this forum has reached Contributor, I've decided to make addon. Here, I'm painting a 737-800. It's gonna be SAS. But there is a problem that can't paint the other part of the plane, such as tail and engine :( . Can anyone help me?
Best regard.

Good work getting your feet wet in the world of Modding for YSFlight! It's a rewarding experience and of course you have a wealth of knowledge here to guide you. ;)
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

I'd recommend watching the Introduction to Blender series. If you have some familiarity with Blender, you can skip ahead to #4

If you don't mind.... May I?
(Blender version 2.4)
Two methods:

1.
[Suitable for simple logos like that of air France]
Use the knife tool (press the key 'k') when in edit mode (change from bottom left area in the drop down menu, by default it will be at object mode)

after selecting the faces (hold control and make loops around one vertex or multiple vertices) you want to cut

2.
[In general for all logos]

Download a background picture,

Load it in blender (in the bottom left area File>background Image>load)

Trace it out (space bar>add>mesh>plane, then select any three vertices by holding control and make loops around the vertices, click delete(on keyboard)>vertices),

Select that remaining vertex... place it wherever you want to start tracing the logo, then shift+D, this filiates and gives you a new vertex, continue the process...

Then press 'a' to deselect all vertices,

Select any three or four suitable vertices.... Press 'f' then 'a'... Hence you make faces...

Export as .dnm (that's what I did, file>export>surf or dynamodel),

Then
Import into your model,

Place it wherever required,
Then
Shrink-wrap (bottom right area add modifier>shrink-wrap, then in the box that says "ob:" type in the name of the parent object)

Done!
Hope I was clear and to the point :?:
Happy modelling! :)

Wow, nice work on there Quan Vo. You are on the right path!
This 747 model is originally from TF58, and later I think Zak edited it. But I have to take a look.

I'll get involved into ProPilot's air force project. Check it here: viewtopic.php?f=223&t=8520
I'll make some transporter for it. Any info about this please ask ProPilot.
This aircraft will be use as vip transport in the airport (actually more)
