Radar Screen Instrument

Post by CharleyHotel » Sat Jun 04, 2011 6:37 pm

I know a lot of talk has been swirling around about an AWACS unit, which sparked a thought. I know in a lot of jumbos and in like the MH-53, you can have different inside the plane views, including on one model (not sure which), seeing some more working instruments.

Would anything like this be possible for an E-2 or an E-3, where it can have a working radar screen instrument/console as one of the views instead of relying on something like YS ATC client or the standard radar, which has a lack of detail on a small scale?

No such thing as a functioning radar screen instrument panel in ys to my knowledge. I figure you'd probably have to assign bits on the radar to propeller to get the visual effect.

I was just wondering because I've flown in a model with a functioning artificial horizon, so I wasn't sure. Thanks.

Wait, what? I'm at work right now and can't quite open to view how this works.

Can someone explain this? It sounds really cool!

As you know, aircraft can have autotracking gun on turret (if controlled by "TURRETCT 0 GUNNER" in dat), that follow nearest enemy aircraft.
This trick used here, also it use two turrets that limited in 180 degries, thanks that it can clearly give an answer were enemy aircraft is.

That is actually a very clever approach!

So one is a child of the other I assume and that allows the aircraft to be "drawn" on the radar? (Well, the nearest aircraft anyway.)

So that means, any aircraft can have a crude but clever radar but should also have some minimum number of bullets that should never be fired? I mean that turret will it work without bullets?

Thanks a lot :)

Cool mod with the radar function.
It isn't mine, although it does seem to be based on a repaint I did from Oranleed's F5 to make the Sundowner pack complete.

This radar idea is nifty, and seems to be transferable to other planes.
Just got to take the items from the DNM and re-place them in the new cockpit (few centimeters in front of the radar screen would do it).

Yes, copy-past is easy, but, think, all of us need details how create similar thing from scratch! ;-)

Also, interesting who is really author of this trick and did this user make some other interesting addons!
I take it from here - http://www41.atwiki.jp/ysflight/m/pages/21.html
