An Encounter

Post by Gunny » Thu May 19, 2016 2:46 am

I had an encounter with a young man while scootering to Walmart this evening about 45 minute ago.It seems this young man was broke and asked me if I could give him my money. All of it.A broke down old man on a handicap scooter must have seemed like an easy mark I guess. So I said we can talk about it kid and turned off my scooter. He seemed to get agitated when I grabbed my cane in my good hand and got off my scooter. You see when I am standing I am 6'-3". I also have a concealed carry .45 in a shoulder holster I always carry with me.So I say to this young Cretin lets dance my friend but the last time I saw him he was hauling ass down main street looking for a hole to hide in.So I preceded to the Sheriffs office one block away no less to report this encounter.Well it seems they already have a warrant out for this guy for robbery and assault. So I guess I am not as broke down as I thought I was.And yes I am bragging.I gotta say I had not felt that alive in a vary long time and I am still hyped about it.I still got it after all these years. But I am vary relieved I did not actually have to kill him because that is exactly what I was going to do.To old to tapdance anymore don't have the wind for it.

Ammo is expensive. I'm glad you didn't have to spend any! He probably is, too. The law man probably could have found him in the nearest clothing store shoplifting a new pair of pants.

Did you have to let him see it or was he gone before it came to that?

EDIT: Also, file this under "Why We Carry."

Glad to see you're ok Gunny and yeah, I think that guy will be thinking twice next time he has what he thinks is an easy target. I think you literally gave him a good run for his "money."

@Pat He never even saw the .45.He just saw me standing over him He was About 5' 8" to 5' 10" came to about my chest. He probably never even considered I could get out of the seat to fight back. The cops never gave me a problem with the pistol.Just ask to remove it while in the station.WV no longer requires a permit to carry concealed.Just got a call they got him he is in the hospital right now he resisted.they need me to ID the guy tomorrow.
P.S. Funny but if he has asked me nice I would have given him some money.I don't like to see anyone down on there luck been there myself but never resorted to chicanery to get back up.

Hectic as. Glad it didn't go pear shaped!
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

Third(or second) comment from outside USA.

Wow,you own a gun, man,America, that's how it is,i understand that it's for defence purposes,or hunting or entertainment, most of the time,it's always the South that has guns the most(correct me if i'm wrong),so in here, which is Brunei,it's only legal if you register the gun at the police, and also in the border with Malaysia, there's actually a shop in the Malaysian side that sells guns,i bet the customs would take it away if someone is trying to sneak in the gun,and lucky it didn't became a fight,or else, you know,he's in jail(i'm not trying to offend you, gunny).
Currently inactive,may return soon.

We're all really glad you are alright.
The way that situation went, it is probably the best it could have gone for both you and the other guy. He doesn't get shot and you don't have to deal with any injuries on your end. I'm glad they caught him.

As the great warrior-poet Ice Cube once said, 'If the day does not require an AK, it is good.'
I have a buddy in my college who absolutely adores the USMC. Bet he'd do anything to meet an ol' vet like you. Glad you still have some fight left in ya, Gunny. ;)
