Are you releasing these nice flares anytime soon? They would be a nice ''add on'' for Zeus.

The flares are already out. They are apart of the Super Etendard release from Oranleed's BBS

OKay, So I've been working on the 737 pack and I'm getting some trouble with the lst file. Is there a character or folder limit to your lst lines?

I'm thinking that there is a character limit because the Egypt Air and West Jet planes have the same folder number but different character numbers.

Can anyone else shead some light on this?

There's a character limit for plane names, I think it's 32. Never seen any issues with line length though.

I've been getting visual errors for some planes when trying to select them. It seems related the character length becuase a malev 600 will work, a malev 700 will work but a malev 800 will not. (The malev 700 started with some 3000 rounds of ammo, so I'll have to fix that  )

When you say 32 characters, is that the dat file name or the dnm file name?

Well I made some progess on the 737 front, only to find that the naccels of the -600 are flashing with the nav lights. Looks really wierd. I have to get those ironed out before I continue with testing.

On a slightly relaged note:

I've been working on smoothing out and combining the pieces of the Boeing 727 Wing, I had to eliminate some features in order to do this, but in the end it will work well. I have a plan to make it appear that the holes I removed are still there.

Reduced the polygon count in the fuselage by taking the triangulated mesh and making the faces that were originally rectangular, rectangles once again. (All Done manually)

That's looking good! Can we expect any paint jobs on this or a blank release?

Paint jobs for sure. This kind of work deserves some nice paint schemes.

But we are kinda getting ahead of ourselves here. The mesh still needs fine-tuning, and then it needs to be animated, then the insides have to be made, final non-airline decals/other details, and then we can talk about painting.

Well, this one was a wee bit interesting...

I was working on the end cones for the engines and noticed that there was a cut out for an engine reverser, but was part of the mesh. So I went in and did some cutting and extruding, and voila! Thrust reversers!
Image

I still have to make the insides of them, (So you don't see thru the model when they are deployed) but it should be fairly straight forward...

[s]Famous last words...[/s]

EDIT:

Not so hard...

Image

I also simplified the mesh a wee bit by making the reverser bays all one piece, and also made both upper and lower flaps individual pieces. Now it only needs two animations, not 4.

Just spent like 2 hours working on this one:

I am trying to get the flap mover covers to be presentable (read correct shading) and at the advice of Lord Flasheart, I went in and manually fixed each and every polygon. Not sure if there was a better way to do it, but The results are a step towards the right direction.

Good thing you uploaded a video about doing that. This weekend I might get off my arse and finish my SSTO after taking a look at your works.

While doing some research into 727 Cockpits (There isn't all that many good sources out there!) I found that the rear (middle) engine has a thrust reverser that goes to the side.

I added that in and too care of some final little details with the mesh. Now I have to name all the pieces, and export them to SRFs for animation...We are getting closer.

If you guys have any souces for 727 cockpits, I would be very interested in them. Avsoft has a poster for like 25-30 USD that would be ideal, but I can't find anything else that is decent. There are a few FSX images, but not the greatest quality resolution.

^I would definitely help you out there but exams are calling my name today lol. Hopefully I get some time over the weekend. Summer courses leave little free time usually (I'm taking only one but there are 20 exams (mini-tests)).

Yes, but ideally all of the pannel, not just a wee bit that is there. There is a lot of stuff in that cockpit!

Okay! Let's get into things here.

I sat down today and finished the perliminary Mesh refinements of the Boeing 727-200 Skyline generated. Here's a quick before, during and after slideshow.
Image

Image Image
Image The last bit that I worked on today was the outer and inner ailerons. Now they are flush with the model, and look like they belong. :D

Now begins the process of exporting all the srfs for importation into dnmviewer, as my dnm export script seems to be acting up lately... time for a re-install!
