I started using a ground tile I found a while back and I can't get used to it...it's too much to deal with on the eyes. I was wondering for those of you who have custom ground tiles installed to YS, if you could upload them to this topic so we have a nice variation to choose from? That and plus could someone upload the stock one for me cause I forgot to back it up :lol: Appreciate it if you could.

Last year I replaced the stock ground tiles with Scarecrow's custom ones. They have a smoother appearance and won't look as blocky or jagged as the default ones do. One nasty surprise that I found out the hard way was because they seemed smoother, the ground textures are harder to spot. As I was a frequent low altitude flyer, I find it harder to judge the height of the aircraft relative to the ground just by using my eyeballs. Hence, I crashed, oh so many times.

But at least they made the ground look nicer. Plus, I'm used to them now. ;)

I can't test sc's one right now. But is there a performance difference between them (16x16 vs. 256x256)?

My laptop, outfitted with a graphics card, hardly experiences any performance change at all. I think it would be the same for anyone. Then again, you never know if you never try.

I have experimented with many gound tiles of differnt textures.Yes even crows.But I have as yet not found one to my satisfaction.But I have found in my experimentations that with even a less than satisfactory graphics card the smaller the size the better the FPS anything up to a 150x150 should work well.Anything above that you should have a better quality card.

I'm using Scarecrow's tile for now. I believe it's Scarecrow's anyways. Not too bad, I recommend it over the others...some of them are too much on the eyes.
