Found a little "print screen" trick that you could use to texture some of your elevation grids after editing the faces/nodes and not before, it involves the usage of image editing sofware with layer support. Made an image "tutorial" (ok more like a general guide really, got me there  ) explaining the trick which Is included as an attachment to the post.

Not much of a thing actually but sharing it in the hopes you might find this of use and perhaps expand it or perfect it for much broader use. If this was already posted before or if it is of common knowledge around here I apologize in advance and you shall delete my post away as you consider it required. 8-)

Cheers!!!

Note:Will try to make textured elevation trees or forests using this but will only post the process later on if succesful.
The trick, tried on an elevation grid aztec pyramid.

Edit: On rectangle shaped elevation grids the texture and elevation grid must share the exact same size ratio on the sides if we intend this to work in a proper way, notice I stated same size ratio NOT same size, ;) for example if you use the grid or lattice to make a 150x200 (meters) elevation grid then you could use a 1500x2000 pixel texture or a 150x200 pixel texture.

Edit: Made on scenery editor for windows test/ver 20180704 http://ysflight.in.coocan.jp/ysflight/y ... tvere.html

Edit: Completed the textured elevation trees experiment mentioned above, Image attached below describing the mains of the process just in case you need it.

I'd like to thank user Philster for post, that's how I got the idea!

You can just lay a huge elevation grid down, select the nodes you want as trees, raise then to a certain height, and clear zero elevation grids without smoothing. However, I agree on your idea with an elevation grid pack. That would be amazing.
:o 8-)
