How to Import/Export Elevation Grids, Scenery, or 2D Paints.

Post by FrenchTOZT » Tue May 01, 2012 7:54 pm

To export/import items such as: elevation grids, or 2-D paints in Scenery Editor to another scenery goes as follows:
First off, select what item you want to export. (Select: then select item)
The selected item will be highlighted.
To export:
File
→ Export
(I normally choose current scenery)
For 2-D paints it will create a .pc2 file, elevation grids will create a .ter
Title it and.. Magic, you got your item that you can move to another scenery.
To import:
Go to file.
→ Import

Now, here is what is different.
For a 2-d paint from a map you will choose the “Map” option.
For an elevation grid: You will choose “Elevation Grid”
Scenery allows you to import a .fld file, and YFS, allows for a .yfs file.

Next:
Place where you want your object to be at. For a 2-D the cursor will place it in the middle of the object.
An elevation grid will normally have the cursor at the bottom left of the elevation grid.
Hit your space key, and you now have your item in another scenery.
I will create a small presentation soon with pictures to better benefit you, young grasshoppers.

If you want to export a certain item from a map, you first need to export the entire map, open a new scenery, import the map, delete the unnessecary items and re-export it. Otherwise, if you try to click-ESC-click select then import it, you will be left with the entire map, not the specific item you want. If I have time, I might post a video.

This should really be in Scenery Editor, though.
