PSA: DELMARVA Region Bird Illness

Post by Bear »

If you live in the Delaware/Maryland/Virginia (Delmarva) region and currently have bird feeders out, it’s highly advisable that you take them down. There’s recently been an outbreak among the avian population of an unknown illness. Experts advise that for the time being until they identify the issue, you take down you bird feeder, as congregations of birds can accelerate the spread of this issue. Symptoms include, but are not limited to: swollen, encrusted, or oozing eyes, and in some cases, neurological symptoms including tremors and balance issues. Avoid handling birds and keep pets away as a precaution. So far the illness has been limited to birds. Wear disposable gloves if you must handle a bird or a carcass. https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va ... utType=amp
