I've been thinking about that actually and I'm looking at the work other artists are doing (okay so there's like 2 I know of  ) and I may have to put a team together just because of the scale of this map. I've been inspired just by flying over all this and seeing all the major stuff from the air is absolutely incredible.

If you lot work together as a team, then you could have ridiculously cool stuff.

Anything could happen!

Thanks for the support guys. Will do Iceman. Decided to branch off and take a sort of break for a bit and do Hurlburt Field, FL near Pensacola which will also be in the project. It looks very good even though it's less than halfway done. There is much more to come. A lot of large airports in the region. Maybe we could use a map like this to try to bring back our VA's and give them somewhere to actually operate.

An update on my progress. I've lost a week on YS work due to an awesome and fun week being CO for my 35 other cadets at camp. For the past 3 weeks my main and priority project has been Project Atlas. However I have somewhat deviated from Atlas to work on a project that bridges Atlas and my squad. I have been working on a map that will fairly soon be called the homebase of VNAF Aerobatics. The picture above is basically the main VNAF Yemen AFB that will be the hub of operations for VNAF. The map also includes another airport for commercial flying business. The map is still a very large work in progress but my aim is to not forget anything lol so it may be a few more days but hopefully by Wednesday or so this may be done. I can hardly add more because the map is at the least getting 15fps with no other computer programs running so that's meaning server wise it may get down to 11 or 12fps at the least with no lag and only in very few parts. Mainly you'll get a good 20fps. It's only if you're looking exactly at everything at once. Anyways I'm keeping the type of geography a secret until the map is released. I'll tell you now, It-Is-Beautiful. Possibly my best work so far in this scenery and of course expect it to go as far as the eye can see because I hate seeing the edges of maps. At this one's completion I will do more with Atlas and my main project will return to Virginia.

Sorry for "triple posting" but the VNAF home base Yemen AFB has been released. Now work returns to Project Atlas and Southeast Virginia.

Hey Hog, are we going to use that map for that thing we discussed over email some time ago? ;)

I think I lied a little haha. I got caught up in some cool ideas to make Yemen AFB better and another map that will have a multitude of purposes and abilities. I have been wanting a better training range to mess around on for a while now and have finally sucked up to do it. This will be included in an update and expansion to the Yemen AFB scenery. This range will have multiple types of targets and there will be separate maps for non-firing and firing targets.

I still have my Virginia scenery in the works but I am trying to acquire a few more tricks before returning to the project. I am currently working on a large scenery which will include for the first time mountain ranges and larger airports. The scenery within this map will be fairly detailed including stadiums, campuses, and possibly detailed waterfronts. Screenshots to come soon when more work is done on either scenery. The update to Yemen will probably come sooner than any other release.

How does an all-purpose, lighted, several kilometer wide target range with a nearby army air field and nearby logistics operations range sound to you all?

EDIT: Preview of what the ranges look like. This is only half of the impact range. This range will feature a variety of targets for anything from carpet bombing, high drag bombing, precision bombing, strafing, artillery, high altitude strike, low level strike, and weapons testing. In this picture is also the operations base that features a short airstrip for STOL and VTOL close to the ranges. There will also be a logistics range nearby which will have an airstrip and landing zones for combat insertion training.

Still not 100% with the way everything looks so it may look a lot different than what you see if I figure out something that works better. Still installing mountains and terrain features even in this shot so be prepared to dodge some 5000ft hills.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've lost the will to work on the Virginia scenery right now. It's a bit sloppy because I've learned alot about making my maps clean in terms of their actual design and layout and I'm not comfortable with the way that scenery looks atm. Plus there's still a lot to do on that map so I'm putting it in the hangar for now until I'm ready to keep going on it. Sorry if you guys are dissapointed about that. However I still have three other projects that I still want to keep working on so you all can expect those soon. Editing original post so you guys can see my progress.

This shouldn't be much of a request; Just hoping that the details will include the Fleet Navies (like N.O.B. and Little Creek) as well as the Aviation Units. There is also a ShipYard in there somewhere. Thanks, It sounds like a winner, I was stationed there in the early 80's.

Not sure what you're talking about by those units but the map has already been released.
