Thought of the day: Anschluß?

Thought of the previous day (4/20): If we say "drink your drink" then why don't we say "eat your eats" or "food your food"?

@Greenhorn [s]Haha! Very funny! Next thing you'll tell me is that somewhere a lawnmower has managed to defy the law of gravity in pursuit of its dreams! Ha!

Ah fudge nuggets....

TOTD: I think everyone should have Flux installed into their computers. I use it at night and it's definitely making a difference to my sleeping patterns.
f.lux makes your computer screen look like the room you're in, all the time. When the sun sets, it makes your computer look like your indoor lights. In the morning, it makes things look like sunlight again.

Tell f.lux what kind of lighting you have, and where you live. Then forget about it. f.lux will do the rest, automatically.

Thought of the day: If you are a 4-year-old in a park being dragged into a van, would you rather your mom be standing there demanding action, or would you prefer her to take action to save you?

Acquired my driving and biking license!!!!

AM I MAN NAO????

TOTD: Having (very limited) experience in driving both a manual and auto transmission, I'd prefer manual every time. Mostly being that you are more in control of the vehicle and it feels more rewarding.

Though I can see why the steep learning curve would scare away most people. But once you've got the basics down...

Took some guns out to the field today. I shot my AR for the first time in a few years. It ran great. It's never had a malfunction. Shot my pocket pistol, it had some trouble. I forgot to oil it, and it had some trouble. Then I got out my Uberti Walker, the .44 cal. black powder revolver. Smoke went everywhere. After four rounds it jammed up bad. I managed to get it going and cleaned it up before the next loading. Four rounds and it jammed up again. I managed to get the last two again. When I started cleaning it I saw how dirty it was. It was also dry.

Thought of the day: If the wheel* is squeaky, you'd better oil it!

*Or wheel gun.

Took my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro for a spin in Il-2 Sturmovik yesterday. The Z-Axis issue seems to be fixed, though I didn't do anything to it.

I flew a Hurri Mk IVc in VVS paintscheme around Stalingrad at approx 300m above the city during the evening. Reminded me how much I love the feeling of cold air blasting against my wind (when I opened the canopy mid-flight, ofc) while I lined up against an airfield quite close to the city itself. Maintained a speed of 160+ km/h with full flaps and navigation lights on. Placed the nose on a slight dip below the horizon and let the plane steadily gets closer to the ground, all the while airspeed is bleeding rapidly right after I have cut the throttle down to 21%. Flared up the last minute to make the classic British 3-point landing. Thankfully it was soft enough that the plane didn't bounce up nor broken the landing gears (as I've always done in the past without fail  ). Taxi'd to a nearby shed, engaged the chocks and killed the engine.

And all is seemingly quite in the Eastern Front.

TOTD: I really need to open and clean my joystick. At the very least to get all the dust debris out after 2 years of loyal service. Love you, joystick.

Sorry for double posting. But I am feeling really happy right now...

Image
Took it apart and reassembled it. Thankfully without any hiccups.Surprised to see that my Logi Extreme 3D Pro differ in a few ways than the one in the tutorial I found (i.e no metal "pins" that kept the X, Y and Z sensors in place). But it was clear enough in explaining on what you should do to safely clean it of dust and debris.

1st time testing:
Image
As you can see, when I leave the joystick as it is, in neutral, nothing is moving. As it should be. Before this the Z axis was jittery and often gave a flase signal of left rudder all the time.

Now, however...

8/8 would use to dogfight bogeys with

TOTD: In less than a week, I'll be entering MATA (Malaysian Aviation Training Academy) to study to be a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, for realzies...
I'm getting nervous already...

One of the plausible causes is that the range of movement that is actually being used by the twist sensors for the X, Y and Z axis are only 1/3 of what it's actually capable of moving. So after a prolonged period of use, grease builds up at these "stopping points" and the reading given by them becomes off.
What I did was to twist it as far left and right as possible repeatedly to free up the grease. Other than that its just brushing and air blowing on the dirty parts.

Oh, and sad to say this but my 8 button has died, and 9 isn't looking too great either.

If anyone so happens to want to disassemble one, here a video of a guy doing it. Do it at yer own risk!

I think I just need a new stick, for my ST-290 is nearing the end of it's life. The trigger became broken from all the shooting, it moves the aircraft without my input. The life of a combat pilot's joystick is a short and violent one,... especially if that pilot is me.
