Sorry if you've explained somewhere but I don't understand fully. Will pilots in the airshow have to do ATC at the rehearsal? Or will there be a fly in with ATC going on at the same time as show quality control?

Won't be on for another few hours.

To answer your question Doggeh, the intent is to have both at the same time. So if you're there to practice for the show, you'll be properly coordinated between and among incoming traffic and if needed, you'll have clear airspace for your rehearsal. There will be flying in before and after rehearsal that will be free of aerobatic displays though if you just want a nice ATC session. The aerobatic box will throw a curve to things though ;)

We're about a week away from this fly-in and I would like to pass a bit of information for everyone who wants to participate.

Controllers, I will pass information to you guys and brief you within this week prior to the fly-in. If you can show up about an hour before so we can all talk and get last minute questions taken care of, that'd be great.

Pilots, there are a few things you should know about this fly-in (but don't be discouraged to participate). This is basically an open server time everywhere but Vuelo. There will be other airports you can fly in and around, however the Vuelo area will be controlled so you'll need to be in touch with ATC there (which doesn't mean we won't let you fly!).

Vuelo will mainly only accept arrivals during the fly-in and especially during the rehearsals. Handling departures in the airspace may overwhelm controllers if there is a lot of traffic so it may be possible for you to depart out of Vuelo, but please know that you may be delayed or denied departure at certain times. Consult the CENTER controller with any departure requests from Vuelo.

I will release charts soon that will depict all airspace and any information you might need to know about Vuelo for the fly-in. For pilots, we simply ask that if you're planning to fly to Vuelo, listen to the controllers instructions (otherwise they're authorized to use lethal force on your aircraft ;) ).

Heads up all due to my personal work commitments the Black Dragons will be arriving at appx 0130 UTC, 09Aug15, that is 11 hours after the fly in starts. (VNAF and I have spoken about this already)

That should be:
1730 Kujo's time 08Aug15.
2030 VNAF's time 08Aug15.
0130 UTC 09Aug15
1130 Flakes time, 09Aug15.

So yeah, we expect to arrive late in the evening. Controllers will probably be off duty at this time. However if people want to come back later in the evening to watch us arrive and perform you are most welcome to. Thanks for your understanding!
I am an accountant working full-time (and some). I'm not here as often as I would like to be. Send a message if you need me. There are a few people in the community who can get in contact with me urgently if you need - don't be afraid to ask. I just don't check here as frequently as I used to. Sorry!

Aeronautical Charts for everyone!

These charts represent the Vuelo Beach area and its airspace! The top chart depicts the airport control airspace (blue and pink circles) as well as aerobatic boxes that will be intermittently active (ask controllers which is active at that time). Please take a look at these charts as they will help pilots and controllers become familiar with the area!

2 days! ATC controllers, please be on the YSFHQ Teamspeak at least 30 minutes before the start time (1430 UTC). This will give me time to give you a short briefing and allow you to ask questions. I'll try to walk you through how this will work (hint: very simply  ).

Everyone else, feel free to drop in whenever you like (performers kinda have to ;) ) and test the waters. I think you'll find this is gonna be easier and more fun than you think. Even if you don't fly, come hang out with everyone on the server anyway!

Just for everyone's reference, the start time is 9:30a.m. CDT (U.S. Central - since we had some confucion with start times during the last ATC session this is *just* a clarification).

Also, those who are going to be there please pm me so I know how many controllers we have on hand. Thanks!

Just to clarify, will the rules be the same as the last ATC Session ( Dan and Dave's Honolulu ATC Session )?

Best Regards

The only rules are:
-don't fly into the restricted air show boxes without approval
-listen to and do what ATC tells you
-talk to ATC before entering Vuelo airspace

Really not much to it. It's not necessarily like other ATC sessions. Consider it an intro to YS ATC sessions so it is meant to be VERY basic and simple.

this is an announcement to All ATC's and Administration for the AirFest fly-in and main event. do to my current internet situation, i am unable to use any part of the speech fuction of TeamSpeak. Therefor, i ask that if you need to communicate with me, please do so using YSFlight's built-in messaging system. i know that this is an inefficient manner of communication, but it is the only option available to me.
i apologize in advance for any inconvenience that my request may cause.

^No problem Dragon Mech, just FYI if we get a load of arrivals chat-based communication will be slow. So if it takes 30-40 seconds to respond, we're not ignoring you ;).

If you have a basic knowledge in ATC procedures you should be fine. :)
